The art of being pedantic

I picked up my copy of Writing magazine today and was surprised at the number of grammatical or typing errors on the first couple of pages. Admittedly these were in the letters section and, I assume, have to be printed faithfully to the authors of the missives. Unfortunately it does not reflect well on those who put pen to paper or those who choose to print such. I stopped subscribing to The Daily Telegraph after their number of errors became unacceptable and I feel this is a sad reflection on the teaching standards of English and grammar in our current education system.

July-deadline writing competitions

July-deadline writing competitions.

One of my favourite and most useful sites, Morgen (with an “E”, ), this digest is a useful monthly tool giving reminders of competition deadlines closing shortly. If you’re into the competitive writing thing, that is, or even if you know of competitions that you would like promoted or just feel should go to a wider audience.
