Because we lived so far away
We took a school bus every day
We could never be late
The driver wouldn’t wait
And we knew what our parents would say

In a tangled labyrinth
Troubled mind seeks calm

You all know me, my name is Bobby
Since lockdown started I’ve tried new hobbies
I’ve bought brushes, paints and paper
For watercolour painting but what a caper,
Got a short wave radio a C B too
Yet I still listen to Radio Two
Brand new camera, flash gun and lenses
Even got infrared to see what that senses,
A taste for astronomy entered my head
But I found I’d rather be tucked up in bed
So I took up my trusty pen and pad
If I can get more writing done, then I’ll be glad.

All of us have met the people
Who say pride comes before a fall
A common proverb used by all
Their philosophy is simple,
Fear their way of life may topple
Perhaps they ought to take a look
Through the pages of the good book
Read about a life that was spent
Solely pursuing good intent
Just to die like a common crook

My friend Fiona once told to me
Whilst walking in the wood she needed to pee
She sat in the bushes and pulled down her pants
Her only worry that there may be ants
Suddenly a wasp started to fly round her head
Shoo, shoo, you little pest, Fiona said.

In the East as the sky turns red
It’s time for me to leave my bed
To the shoreline I must away
And try my luck with the net today
A rod and a line are not for me
Fish leap with joy if these they see
So I’ve decided to use a net
But I still haven’t caught any yet

When I lived in the village, I remember there stood
a lovely white cottage at the edge of the wood
With its whitewashed walls in the sun how they shone
But sadly I went back and my dream house had gone
Instead of old walls where wisteria grew thick
Was a blot on the landscape, all glass and red brick.

Taking just one sip
from the cup of tainted love,
