Each new day is done

tides and seasons do not tire

Sammiscribbles weekend writing prompt #291 #Festive thoughts

Now we’ve finally got to that time again

by children so eagerly awaited when

through the land we celebrate Yuletide

all thoughts of acrimony are set aside

and grievances that once cut so deep

for a short while are put to sleep

and with all the festive cheer

look forward to a bright New Year

Crimson’s Creative Challenge #215 #Trials of life

I was out birdwatching with my friend Dean

when we came across this wondrous scene

though we may think it looks so neat

ducks and geese can find nothing to eat

so instead of ducks with their tails in the air

sadly there seemed to be no bird life there

so in my pocket I will carry a loaf of bread

then throw it for them to eat instead

of her subdued radiance

Crimson’s Creative Challenge #214 #Bridge of sighs

I went for a stroll with a girl called Lynn

who was game for pretty much anything

we got to a stream that we decided to cross

by walking over a tree that was covered in moss

at least it saved us from having to swim

As he sat at his desk he was chewing the end of his pen

knowing the words carefully written could fade to obscurity

or be digested, remembered and ofttimes repeated

Sammiscribbles weekend writing prompt #289 #Last of the few

This week it was sad to see

died Johnny Johnson MBE

on his medal his name engraved

for those lives his bravery saved.

Crimson’s Creative Challenge #213

Arms wide outspread he takes his ease

a time to rest before once more the breeze

says it’s time to turn and face the sun

for now I’m here there’s work to be done.
