Sammiscribbles weekend writing prompt #468 #Cloudbirth

Above the hills the billowing towers

white with darker centres climbing

higher as the day gives way to evening

their dense darkness mirrors its glower

Higher still their edges smooth and level

while the heavy air though now less warm

a sign of approaching thunderstorm

and they will soon assume the familiar anvil.

Crimson’s Creative Challenge #086

Walking through the woods today

on a branch I spied a jay

it was nice to see this colourful bird

as they are seldom seen but often heard

as they hop across the forest floor

collecting acorns for their Winter store

like their cousin the common magpie

their plumage truly delights the eye

unlike the jackdaw, crow or rook

all barely worth a second look

but now having such beauty seen

I felt enraptured as in a dream.

His people knew that he was around the bend

And eventually he came to an inglorious end.
