Though the clocks have been put back one hour
I hope it will not affect adversely our
custom whereby we British pour
ourselves a cup of tea around four
on each weekday afternoon
often in the drawing room
although this demonstration of English taste
seems to have been rather displaced
such beverage would not be complete
without a tray of dainties to eat
and if you decided you would risk it
you could choose to dunk a biscuit

The old farmyard looks the same
as the old picture in the frame
but my eyes still fill with tears
as I remember all those years
when the sounds of horses filled the yard
and even though the work was hard
in the evening we would say
this will all be gone one day
and I would rather not be there
when the smoke from engines fills the air
and I know I can safely say
that all I once held dear has gone away
but I am happy because I understand
that this farm remains in good hands
as every other farm throughout this land

Here are some valuable Apps listed that might help all of us evaluate, track or find simple solutions to shift our mindset and look at what and how we are buying and using things like food, clothes or even the web. And if that, by extension, saves us money… then why not give it a try? 😉

It has just occurred to me
that on a map of the world you see
by looking from right to left
you will go from East to West
if you move them up and down
you see the world from North to South

I looked up to the sign and thought fancy that
someone has left an old straw hat
I wonder if the sun got in their eyes
and that was when they realised
the protection they’d enjoyed for so long
after all this time was sadly gone
and after they had a think about it
decided they would carry on without it

I looked at this photo and thought I might
see Alex and the droogs waiting there for a fight
hoping to find one of these cowards armed with a knife
and give them a beating within an inch of their life
rather than the courts giving them a slap on the wrist
and just a weekly session with a psychiatrist
