His chirp continues

through the soft orange twilight

while street lamps waken.

Sammiscribbles weekend writing prompt #201

While I was sitting in my room

from next door’s radio came a tune

a few minutes passed as I listened

feeling slow tears as my eyes glistened

knowing I’d heard the tune before

probably from some movie score

Barber’s Adaggio for strings apparently

which William Orbit arranged so fluently.

Crimson’s creative challenge #123

My sister phoned me and said,”Guess where I am.”

I said, “ by the sound of it you’re in Siam.”

“Whatever makes you think that ?” she cried

“I can see through your video phone ,” I lied

“Well, you’re wrong, have another try,”

“Perhaps you’re watching, “The King and I, “

“Didn’t you want to come and see the show?”

“There were no more tickets so I let you go.”

She said, “That’s nice of you to think of me,”

But that’s what big brothers are for you see.

Last Saturday we went down the pub,

later on, we carried on to a club,

imagine my surprise when I saw my sister

naked, pole-dancing in the, “Buena Vista.”

Crimson’s Creative Challenge #122 #Feeding frenzy forgotten

Dan the drake and Debbie duck

truly felt that at last their luck

had changed when to their delight

there was not another duck in sight

for to swim alone was such a treat

as there would be enough to eat

no jostling shoving that they must

endure in order to secure a crust

now when bread is cast upon the lakes

a leisurely paddle is all it takes.

Samiscribbles weekend writing prompt #199 #Tables of Terror

Discoveries found quite episodic

gave to us a list that rang melodic

so even those who would feel it all too much

of a strain could successfully remain in touch

and not appear to their peers quite so dense

as they recited the names of the elements.
