Crouching low
she turns with a smile,
inviting,
smooth white limbs
encased in mesh, not feathers
will she fly with me?

I asked my single mum, neighbour, Denise
to come with me on my boat out to sea
as the temperature rose
she stripped off all her clothes
but sadly her dark hair stretched right down to her knees

Our prompt this week is that we may compose
using just a few lines of verse or piece of prose
a difficult task if when looked up you may all agree
if you know the meanings of words just like me
so you can imagine my distress
choosing lines for my own WordPress blog
so I don’t know if I am capable
in verse to express the meaning of ineffable

beneath this fragrant carpet,
sleeping fairies lie.
On sombre faces
tears plough lines on blackened cheeks
coffins fill the thoughts.

One thousand fireflies
cast shadows in the meadow,
all to no avail,
darkness calls for silence though
crickets chirrup on the breeze.
While winds play cello
to the rhythm of the rain
clouds with lightning dance

I sighed in my loudest resigned manner, in the hope that someone, or something, would gauge my anger and frustration. As I replaced another clean puppy pad, the hound-dog from Hell had released another stream of steaming fluid onto the caramel coloured shag pile. Time to make my stand. “That’s it dog, once more and you’re banished,” I shouted, through my smile.
In the beginning
actions at first thought funny
then a little odd,
descent into psychosis
served to provide the answer
