Crimson’s Creative Challenge # 206

Here’s my humble effort this week

I looked up to the sign and thought fancy that

someone has left an old straw hat

I wonder if the sun got in their eyes

and that was when they realised

the protection they’d enjoyed for so long

after all this time was sadly gone

and after they had a think about it

decided they would carry on without it

Adam when tempted

chose to taste forbidden fruit

cast out forever

I looked at this photo and thought I might

see Alex and the droogs waiting there for a fight

hoping to find one of these cowards armed with a knife

and give them a beating within an inch of their life

rather than the courts giving them a slap on the wrist

and just a weekly session with a psychiatrist

The present or the past and even the future brought to life

as with receptive minds we watch a transformation to heroes

and wonder at the crafting of such befitting stories

With a backward glance

each childhood haunt remembered

with age death beckons

I open the door and get a shock

my washing machine has run amok

whilst unloading it with barely a glance

it’s twisted my shirts, vests, underpants

but seems to have eaten just one sock
