WHAT DO YOU SEE? MAY 7/2019

09816353-0EFB-44A6-B93A-A2166CAB9332“Oh no, not again, Mum, mum there’s something wrong with me,”

”What’s wrong Billy,” said his mother with a smile, “and why do you keep on going to that little tree and standing in front of it?”

”Well you remember when I was three, you stood me up to it and made that mark where my head was?”

”Yeeess, why, did it bother you?”

”Well you told me that that would be half my height I’d be when I grow up.”

”That’s right dear, that’s what they say. Why do you keep on checking it?”

”Well, mum, I’m getting smaller and smaller. I was a lot taller then, I’m never going to reach twice the height that mark is now.

When Humpty Dumpty

waved at a passing tinker

a tumble ensued.

Sammiscribbles #Weekend writing prompt #104 Meander

812B412E-88D2-4A36-9D65-9493C584763C

Across the verdant fields and petal-painted meadows the crystal water plots it’s steady course. At times snake-like, writhing as if to swallow itself, each turn and meander eroding and undermining fragile banks. Only the destructive hand of man can stop the river in her unhurried seaward progress.

Sue Vincent’s marvellous #Thursday photo prompt: Monochrome #images #writephoto

timbered-building

Ebony trees and mottly skies

contrast the walls of snowdrop white

with latticed glass and black oak beams.

Magpies peer down from lofty eaves

as cross and chevrons guide our eyes

to telltale wisps from tall chimneys.

While on the lawn at close of day

badgers emerge to take the stage

witnessed from the trees, the deer.

While yet nervous, bowed heads feed,

poised ears, black nostrils, watchful eyes

each white rump signals silently.

Crimson’s creative challenge #25

girl-on-bank-1-“Oh look at that. My luck must be in. She doesn’t know I’m here so if I just wait a while I’ll see if she’s alone. I can’t hear anyone else around. I wonder what she’s doing, shouldn’t she be in school, not sitting here all alone on the riverbank. That’s it, I’m going to sneak up behind her. If I stay really quiet she probably won’t notice until I’m right behind her. That will be a shock but so much fun when I see the reaction on her face and hear her gasp. I won’t hurt her but she doesn’t know that. Right here we go, slowly now, slowly, keep low and don’t make a noise. Oh no, she’s heard me, she’s turning round.”

“Ruffles, you naughty dog, what are you doing here? Did someone leave the gate open? Give me a hug and then I’ll take you home.”
