She basks in the glow

of her subdued radiance

lantern in the night

I went for a stroll with a girl called Lynn

who was game for pretty much anything

we got to a stream that we decided to cross

by walking over a tree that was covered in moss

at least it saved us from having to swim

Holly bears a crown

drops of blood on ivy stems

Season of goodwill

As he sat at his desk he was chewing the end of his pen

knowing the words carefully written could fade to obscurity

or be digested, remembered and ofttimes repeated

Arms wide outspread he takes his ease

a time to rest before once more the breeze

says it’s time to turn and face the sun

for now I’m here there’s work to be done.

As the wind subsides

frenzied snowflakes come to rest

moonlit night now clear

After a lifetime spent going to sea

I have many memories

but one that is truly momentous

is watching a whale vent as

it rises to take one more gulp of air
