Dan the drake and Debbie duck
truly felt that at last their luck
had changed when to their delight
there was not another duck in sight
for to swim alone was such a treat
as there would be enough to eat
no jostling shoving that they must
endure in order to secure a crust
now when bread is cast upon the lakes
a leisurely paddle is all it takes.

gave to us a list that rang melodic
so even those who would feel it all too much
of a strain could successfully remain in touch
and not appear to their peers quite so dense
as they recited the names of the elements.

An ache in my heart
a dose of nature can ease
Spring is in the air.

I set out my stall at the local antique fair
then took a stroll around to see who else was there
noticed that, there were very many rows
of second-hand furniture, toys and baby clothes,
items of bric-a-brac and knick-knacks quite a few,
of antiques none that could be classed as true,
on closer inspection there were some nice bits
but also a lot that most would call kitsch

he has lost his cushion of moss,
if on a walk you turn quickly
you may see him hiding in the trees
but now he’s old and past his best
so even he sometimes needs to rest.
