Crimson’s Creative Challenge #255 #Beliefs that still remain of East Anglia.”

Sitting thinking of these three chairs

I know you may be unaware

of the village where they are preserved

in memory of the cause they served

when townsfolk in religious zeal

who on Sundays before the altar kneel

then look for those who still relied

on portents by nature prophesied

the expected harvest, weather warm or cool

would be subject to, “The ducking stool.”

Samiscribbles Weekend Writing prompt #330

There was once a man who said

there’s quite a maelstrom in my head

to await again the rising sun,

but this star sits upon the shore

and there on the harsh sand lingers

till reclaimed by the tide’s long fingers

“Run Forrest!” the cry rings out, whether it be in his head or from some outside entity, the instinct for survival is strong. It is oft repeated in many different contexts and releases a myriad of emotions in the observer. What a gem of a line that even without repetition will come back to make you yourself say, “Run Forrest run,”

A flying rat perched up in a tree

successful though these birds may be

the farmer hoping for good yields

is often thwarted in his fields
