Sammiscribbles weekend writing prompt #203

Whilst in San Remo on holiday

I visited the graveyard one day

to find old Edward Lear‘s grave

and in these words my respects gave

I’m sorry sir but have you heard

everything you wrote was quite absurd

curious poems and stories tall

enjoyed by children and by all

you can be sure we will not forget

your wonderful nonsense alphabet

His chirp continues

through the soft orange twilight

while street lamps waken.

Sammiscribbles weekend writing prompt #201

While I was sitting in my room

from next door’s radio came a tune

a few minutes passed as I listened

feeling slow tears as my eyes glistened

knowing I’d heard the tune before

probably from some movie score

Barber’s Adaggio for strings apparently

which William Orbit arranged so fluently.

calm rhythmic breaths form soft clouds

birth of Winter mists.

Sammiscribbles weekend writing prompt #200 Clubbing it

Last Saturday we went down the pub,

later on, we carried on to a club,

imagine my surprise when I saw my sister

naked, pole-dancing in the, “Buena Vista.”

Samiscribbles weekend writing prompt #199 #Tables of Terror

Discoveries found quite episodic

gave to us a list that rang melodic

so even those who would feel it all too much

of a strain could successfully remain in touch

and not appear to their peers quite so dense

as they recited the names of the elements.

Crimson’s Creative Challenge #55

burlingham-henge-1

I looked at my neighbour

and she looked at me

then she smiled, bowed her head

and asked if I could see

that we and all the the other posts

were painted quite brightly.

I asked her for the reason

and with a smile of glee,

she said tonight when the park is closed

we will dance round the old dead tree

In Western skies

Hyperion’s son

in fiery

chariot,

expelling dark eyed Luna’s,

cold nocturnal grip
