Down below these planks of wood
cowers a girl who prays she could
break the bonds that hold her tight,
between each plank a chink of light
she above her head can clearly see
that holds the promise to be free,
though thoughts of death may still be near,
thus gently acting to salve her fear
although no matter how bad this may seem
when she awakes will find ‘‘twas just a dream.”

We went down to the woods today and got a big surprise
looking up into the trees we could hardly believe our eyes
for on every branch on every tree
was hanging a piece of crockery
so it seemed we had to assume
that as this is a familiar tune
the teddy bears would be having a picnic.

Of course the downside, which the advertisers didn’t mention was, come sunset and the car is either safely tucked up in the garage or like me, patiently sitting at the side of the road till a new day comes.

The glow worm is a quite
small bug that goes out at night
he has a luminous bum
to invite females to come
and check out the eerie green light.

Sands in time cover
each new path through the desert
the winds of change blow.

It’s difficult to imagine a supposedly civilised nation, can, as far as we can tell, without provocation with shells and missiles seek to cow and bully a population of children and the elderly then suffer the frustration of being denied, despite overwhelming power, the elation that is felt by even the most deluded of dictators who believe that conquest is their vocation
