Ronovan writes #Decima prompt challenge #81

I once knew a sailor called Jack

loved it when the ship’s sails unfurled

and off he’d sail around the world

never knowing when he would be back

trusting the Captain to plot the track

constantly hoping for a breeze

to carry them across the seas

seeing foreign harbour lights

with all their promise of delights

to cater for the sailors needs.

Crimson’s Creative Challenge #154

Bowing my head I raise my eyes

in homage to the unknown men

and women who with just a pen

possessed the vision to design

these buildings reaching to the skies

where men may worship God on high

then secretly they gave their plans

to other experts in their field

for whom the blocks of stone did yield

when summoned from throughout the land

hammer and chisel in their hands.

Crimson’s Creative Challenge #152

It was time to spend more time at sea

with a tear she vowed to wait for me

but only after the second letter

she told me she’d found someone better

I suppose really I should have known

the love of my life had a heart of stone

Ronovan writes #Decima prompt #77 Night sky wonders

I looked up to the skies last night

and marvelled at the starry scene

but knowing much was left unseen

for if the moon is shining bright

small things are hidden from our sight

when in the moon’s reflected glow

they do seem reluctant to show

being so naturally shy

they easily avoid our eye

standing in wonder far below

Sammiscribbles weekend writing prompt #221 “Olympic successes.”

Like many people in Britain I fear

who’ve all been waiting over a year

to see people on the other side of the world

who ran and jumped and bounced and twirled

but quite a few of us in the main

have watched the rowers as they strain

but have any of us ever thought

if they get sore sitting on those thwarts

Crimsons Creative Challenge #140

Yesterday I went for a walk to see

what we had always known as the old dead tree

but you can imagine my surprise

at the beautiful sight that met my eyes

I stood and rubbed my eyes in disbelief

every old, twisted limb was coming into leaf

then I remembered what my mother once said

that nothing in nature is completely dead

and when old trees finally fall to the ground

their end of life will benefit all around

Samiscribbles weekend writing prompt #213

And so I am released from my Solar tethers. From this point the world is my oyster although in this case it should read either worlds or eventually galaxy. For I am Voyager two, a small but very significant part of mankind’s plan for an answer to the second most fundamental question. For forty-five years I have been exploring and reporting on the furthest reaches of our close solar system but now I am finally released from programmed paths and orbits. My debt is paid and my solo quest begins. Wish me luck.
